About the memorial: This table centrepiece was commissioned by the officers of the battalion in commemoration of its role in the 2nd Boer War. It weighs 90 lbs and was completed in 1906 by Elkington and Co of Birmingham. At the top ;Diarmid of the Wild Boar identifies the regiment with Clan Campbell, supported by Ossian the Highland poet and Victory. Two sets of colours from the Peninsula and the present day are below this, then the brooch of Lorne and a portrait of Princess Louise. Four statuettes on the base are of General Duncan Campbell of Lochnell (first colonel of the 91st), a soldier of 1794, an officer of the Boer War and an officer of the present day. On the base, battle honours, the 91st cap badge and the crest of Clan Campbell - the wild boar.
