About the memorial: Between April 1917 and January 1919 Dunham Massey Hall housed the Stamford Military Hospital for injured soldiers of the Great War. 282 soldiers passed through the hospital, some surviving, others not. The memorial to those soldiers consists of 282 individually cast and numbered concrete cubes each numbered with each soldier's admission number (save for one cube included for an unknown and unnumbered soldier).
