About the memorial: dedicated to those of R Shop Great Western Railway who lost their lives during the First World War, this is a large wooden board with an arched central top with the short inscription following the curve. There are two boards listing those who served set between outer carved pillars with a central laurel wreath under which is the main inscription then the tablet listing the fallen.

This tablet is erected to the men on R shop who gave their lives in the Great War 1914 - 1918 and to record the names of those who served on the small board of names it says "those who gave their lives " and over each of the two side boards, "those served"
