About the memorial: The Roll of Honour, the flag with an explanatory note, and a plaque presented by survivors in 1996, form a memorial group on the south wall of the church. This is in the SW corner, alongside the Lavenham WW1 and WW2 memorials. The flag flew over the USA Capitol building in Washington on 13/07/1981 and was then presented to the church by the SCOPE investment club of Minneapolis.

To the men of the 487th Bomber Group (H) lost in action 1943-1945. 487th Bomber Group (H) 836th Squadron 837th Squadron 838th Squadron 839th Squadron. U.S. Army Air Force Station 137 Lavenham Suffolk England I remember you, my young brothers, as we were, as it was. This is the resting place of our memory, as it always will be. $87th Crew Member 1996, October 1996.
