In remembrance of those who took part in the national game of association football and gave their lives in the cause of right and justice in the Great War 1914 - 1918. 'Give me leave to live and die in this opinion, that he is not worthy to live at all who for fear or danger of death. Shunneth his country's service and his own honour'.
