About the memorial: The Monquhitter War Memorial is freestanding within the churchyard of the parish church in Cuminestown. It commemorates the dead of World War I. The memorial is a simple one of three adjoining upright slabs, the centre one of which has a wreath carved on it. It stands on a two-step plinth. There are two small additional plaques placed below the centre panel to commemorate those from the parish died in conflict in the 1950s in Korea and Cyprus. Oddly it has WW1 names plus one each from Korea and Cyprus. This is because there is a separate WW2 Roll of Honour inside the Church.
