About the memorial: Neo-Grecian tablet with medallion profile. Supported by two large brackets with laurel wreath and "Badajoz" between them. He was wounded at Badajoz in 1811 and died of complications in 1820.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

IN A VAULT NEAR THIS SPOT ARE DEPOSITED THE REMAINS OF/ JOHN PRING ESQUIRE OF IVEDON/ LATE CAPTAIN IN THE 27TH OR ENNISKILLEN REGIMENT OF INFANTRY/ HE WAS ENGAGED AT THE BATTLE OF MAIDA UNDER SIR JOHN STEWART,/ AND SUBSEQUENTLY SERVED IN THE PENINSULAR UNDER THE DUKE OF/ WELLINGTON, UNTIL THE 10TH MAY 1811, WHEN IN GALLANTLY REPELLING A SORTIE MADE BY THE FRENCH TROOPS FROM THE WORKS/ OF BADAJOS HE RECEIVED THE WOUND WHICH OCCASIONED HIS/ DEATH. HIS SUFFERINGS DURING THE NINE YEARS WERE OF ALMOST/ UNPARALLED SEVERITY, AND HE BORE THEM WITH UNCOMPLAINING/ RESIGNATION AND FORTITUDE - DEVOTING THE INTERVAL (REMAINING INSCRIPTION NOT KNOWN)
