Who was cut of but the destructive fever of the West Indies on 21st July 1814, at the early age of 23.in the mist of his career of honour and enterprise which promised still farther to embellish The Naval Annals of his country. never was there an officer in whom there were more Admirable Blended the characteristic gallantry of a British seaman. and the rational piety of a Christian but it is needless to recount his virtues they are already registered not on table or stone but in the book of life. This monument is erected by his sorrowing mother, that his name may be recorded in that native home which he passionately loved, though his ashes, alas! are deposited in the deep on the precincts of a foreign shore.
