About the memorial: Rectangular, wooden plaque with nowy top in which is the Splatt-Collyns family crest of lion rampant with crown and the motto Pro Patria Sanguis. Centre bottom is the Regimental badge of the Royal Engineers. The crest, badge and name are in gold.

In ever loving memory of Robert Henry Collyns M.C. Chevalier de la Legion D'Honneur, Major Royal Engineers who died on June 1st 1918 of wounds received in action on May 29th, and was buried at Epernay, France. Aged 23.
