About the memorial: A medieval market cross re-used as the town's war memorial. Two brass plaques have been added to the memorial bearing inscriptions. The names of those who were killed are recorded in a book that is kept in the nearby church. Former village cross, late medieval. Stone. Removed to Ham Court in C18 and converted to sun dial, returned as war memorial 1920.
