Giving thanks to God for the dear memory of John Audley Thicknesse, Lieut - Colonel Somerset Light Infantry, killed in action on the Somme July 1st 1916. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for Thou art with me.Also of his eldest son Brigadier H. J. A. Thicknesse D.S.O. Royal Artillery who died of wounds while a prisoner of war October 1944.
