About the memorial: A series of three windows in the south aisle of St Andrew's Church, Congresbury. The windows relate to the three main armed services and depict St Clement (RN), St Michael (RAF), and St George (Army). The windows also contain vignettes of unit badges and weaponry, including naval ships and landing craft, aircraft (a Spitfire and a Stirling bomber), tanks (Crusaders), and artillery pieces (25 pdr. field guns). The RAF window features some verse, which was apparently composed by Eleanor Lutley, the wife of a former vicar of nearby St. Anne's, Hewish. The church guide book (available in 2015) states that the windows were installed as a war memorial in 1949.
