About the memorial: An oak wood roll of honour comprising six sections. Below a central section with a commemorative inscription are four sections inscribed with names and, at the base of these, is a sixth section with a further quotation. The memorial was originally surmounted with two crossed spears of African style: these are no longer attached. . Following refurbishment of the Onchan Royal British Legion Hall, spears put into the care of Manx National Heritage. The plaque was displayed in Onchan RBL club until its closure in 2006.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
