About the memorial: A dressed sandstone monument comprising a plain wheel cross and tapered shaft on a pedestal and two step base. The vertical sided pedestal has a moulded top and bears the inscription on two faces in upright incised capital block lettering. The steps of the base have a dressed upper surface and rough hewn sides. The lower step bears the maker's mark at the corner. (c IWM)
