About the memorial: St Tarcissus Church was built as a war memorial and designed by Mr F A Walters F.S.A. with a "perpendicular Gothic" tower. The buidling ost £13,500. A white corner stone set into wall of church has a Latin inscription commemmorating its laying on 12th Sepember 1923.

The Latin inscription roughly translates as "In praise of St Tarcisio martyr and in memory of the Catholic officers and sodiers who bravely fell in war 1914-1918 This cornerstone stone was laid by Bishop Peter Bishop of Southwark 12th day of the month of September 1923"
