About the memorial: Three-stepped octagonal base surmounted by a square sectioned plinth, capstone, square base forming into tapering octagonal sectioned column, decorative collar and floriated wheel-like botonee cross. Small bronze laurel wreath with raised lettering, at base of column. Main inscriptions are incised & infilled with black paint, on inset panels around three sides of plinth. An angled wedge-shaped tablet is positioned on the upper step, with further incised & infilled inscriptions. The whole granite-built memorial stands within an elevated roadside paved garden area, enclosed on three sides by a hedge, the fourth side being a low stone wall topped by a decorative metal fence and an access gate from the pavement. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
