About the memorial: Three-stepped octagonal base surmounted by a square sectioned plinth, capstone, square base forming into tapering octagonal sectioned column, decorative collar and floriated wheel-like botonee cross. Small bronze laurel wreath with raised lettering, at base of column. Main inscriptions are incised & infilled with black paint, on inset panels around three sides of plinth. An angled wedge-shaped tablet is positioned on the upper step, with further incised & infilled inscriptions. The whole granite-built memorial stands within an elevated roadside paved garden area, enclosed on three sides by a hedge, the fourth side being a low stone wall topped by a decorative metal fence and an access gate from the pavement.
