About the memorial: Roll of Honour in book form, a copy of one of the original books given to all churches in 1921. Compiled by editors of three local newspapers, and given to the then Government Secretary Bertram Edward Sargeaunt. At his suggestion the Rolls of Honour were to be placed in a prominent place inside each church and that a page should be turned at regular intervals. A photocopy of this book is on the ledge beneath the memorial window at the church (see record 222996 for photograph). Photocopiers weren't, of course, around in 1921 so it is possible that this is a photocopy of the original book presented to the church in 1921, whilst the original is locked away safely somewhere?
