About the memorial: A multi-sport recreation ground with social club opened in 1921 in memory of those who lost their lives in WW1. It includes a metal dedication plaque on a rough hewn stone opposite 828 and 830 Livesey Branch Road. There is a large area of grass as a general recreation ground and for football and cricket pitches. All the buildings are at the back of the ground. From the North end (closest to the adjacent Primary School) there is a 2 part children's playground, then a modern (last quarter 20th century) groundsmans hut/ changing room of little or no architectural merit. In front of this is another rough stone with a centenary plaque. Continuing there are tennis pitches, then a brick built score box (probably for the cricket matches) then the brick built Feniscowles Sports and Social Club/Feni Rec Cafe. Behind this building is the Feniscowles and Pleasington Bowling Club with it's own ground behind a tall hedge. The Club etc looks more likely to be a mid or 3rd quarter 20th century building, rather than being 1920's. Apart from the ground itself there is no building which looks as if it is from the 1920's
