About the memorial: Bronze statue depicting Lt George Armstrong of the Sherwood Foresters Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment, sitting upon a granite plinth, incised with black lettering. The memorial's designer was Henry Pegram. Lt Armstrong is sat on his horse in full regalia. The sculpture was stolen in 2006 following a spate of similar thefts in the area. From internet images from 2011, the sculpture seems to have been reinstated, though it does not seem as large as the former statue (which reportedly stood at 5ft-tall). It is therefore believed that a smaller replica was created but this is yet to be confirmed.
