About the memorial: On the Green, Withersfield, a Latin cross on an obelisk atop a square plinth on a three stepped base in Portland stone. The south-east face of the obelisk is inscribed with the First World War dedication. Inscribed on the south-east, north-east and south-west faces of the plinth are the names of the men who died. The man from 1939-1945 in on the bottom step. Built by E.C.Green, the memorial was unveiled by Lieutenant H.Lake M.C. on the 12th August 1921 attended by the Rev. W.G.Hodges.
