Inscribed on a plaque
- Second World War (1939-1945)
About the memorial:
Black oval tablet in polished stone bearing the Normandy Veterans' Association badge at the top. Beneath is a bronze hook for the placement of wreaths and below that a white metal semicircular 'vase' with motif for flowers. Alongside the vase is a smaller plaque.
The plaques etc are mounted on a projecting portion of the back wall to a small paved area with a fountain as its centrepiece. Also in the paved area is a bronze statue to George Forby (yes - with his ukulele!) and a plaque to two firefighters killed in the line of duty (non-war).
This is one of two memorials on the Isle of Man to Normany Veterans, the other being at the Royal Chapel of St John (222819)
