About the memorial: Black oval tablet in polished stone bearing the Normandy Veterans' Association badge at the top. Beneath is a bronze hook for the placement of wreaths and below that a white metal semicircular 'vase' with motif for flowers. Alongside the vase is a smaller plaque. The plaques etc are mounted on a projecting portion of the back wall to a small paved area with a fountain as its centrepiece. Also in the paved area is a bronze statue to George Forby (yes - with his ukulele!) and a plaque to two firefighters killed in the line of duty (non-war). This is one of two memorials on the Isle of Man to Normany Veterans, the other being at the Royal Chapel of St John (222819) Isle of Man National Inventory of War Memorials: IOM_NIWM_DOU_00034 NGR Easting: 238085 NGR Northing: 475418
