SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF / FRANK HERBERT BUTLER / (OF THIS PARISH) / PRIVATE 1/4TH BATTALION WILTS REGIMENT, WHO GAVE HIS LIFE FOR HOME AND COUNTRY / IN THE GREATW AR 1914-1918. / HE SERVED IN INDIA 1914, MESOPOTAMIA 1915-1917, AND PALESTINE 1918, / WAS WOUNDED AT THE BATTLE OF CTESIPHON NOV. 1917, AND AGAIN AT JERUSALEM 1917 / AND DIED IN THE HOUR OF VICTORY OF DYSENTRY / AT ALEXANDRIA ON THE 16TH NOV. 1918, AGED 35 YEARS./ OPEN WIDE THE GOLDEN GATES AND LET THE VICTOR IN.
