About the memorial: NOWY-HEADED MARBLE TABLET WITH INSCRIPTION IN BLACK LETTERING. LAUREL LEAF AND RIBBON BORDER AROUND THE INSCRIPTION. COLURED FAMILY COAT OF ARMS AT THE TOP CENTRE OF THE TABLET. RIBBON WITH VC ON THE LEFT AND LEGION OF HONOUR ON THE RIGHT OF IT. BELOW THIS IS THE BADGE OF THE ROYAL NAVY AIR SERVICE

THIS TABLET WAS PLACED HERE BY MEMBERS OF THE WARNEFORD/ FAMILY THROUGHOUT THE WORLD IN MEMORY OF/ FLIGHT SUB LIEUTENANT/ REGINALD ALEXANDER JOHN/ WARNEFORD VC RN/ CHEVALIER OF THE LEGION OF HONOUR AGED 23 YEARS SON OF/ THE LATE REGINALD WILLIAM HENRY WARNEFORD GRANDSON OF THE/ LATE REV T L J WARNEFORD CHAPLAIN TO THE FORCES IN INDIA GT NEPHEW OF THE LATE REV CANON WARNEFORD OF WARNFORD PLACE HE WAS HONOURED BY HIS KING WITH/ THE VICTORIA CROSS & BY THE FRENCH NATION WITH THE MEDAL OF THE LEGION OF HON-/ OUR FOR PURSUING AND DESTROYING SINGLE-HANDED A ZEPPLIN AIRSHIP NR GHENT/ IN BELGIUM ON 7TH JUNE 1915. HE WAS KILLED 10 DAYS LATER WHEN FLYING IN PARIS/ ON 17TH JUNE 1915 & LIES BURIED IN BROMPTON CEMETERY WHERE THE NATION HAS SHOWN ITS GRATITUDE & RECOGNITION OF HIS GREAT ACHIEVEMENT IN THE ERECTION/ OF A MEMORIAL BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION/ TO GOD ONLY WISE/ BE GLORY
