About the memorial: Lychgate with plaques on the inside walls. Info and photographs from 2008 and 2016 (see Links) indicate that, by 2016, the memorial has been extensively restored and names added. The inscriptions are in Cornish and English. It remembers with gratitude soldiers from the United States of America billetted in the parishes of Pencoys and Wendron prior to the invasion of europe 6th June 1944 who served in the 174th Regiment 29th Division United States of Americs D+1 (US Armed Fortces).
