About the memorial: Memorial garden. Brick paved with six benches, roses, flowers and trees. Memorial plaque mounted on wall bears inscription. Individual plaques are also mounted on the wall, one for each of those comrades who have died since the war ended. Top corners of plaques bear the badge of the FEPOW Association, showing the rising sun with a cross between the rays and a railway engine. Formerly at Dunston Hill Hospital Chapel- The plaques were resited to their current location in 2013 following closure of the Hospital, and are now in the Rose Garden at St Nicholas' Church.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
