About the memorial: The memorial is a wooden seat within a small partly walled platform on the top of the valley side at Newton on Rawcliffe looking out to the north-east across Newton Dale to the Levisham Moors beyond. The seat has the mouse emblem of the maker Thomson of Kilburn. The inscription is on the back rail of the seat.
