About the memorial: An oblong nowy-headed wall mounted bronze plaque with projecting corners. At the head is a shield bearing shaking hands and a fascine representing co-operation and strength, or Unity is Strength - a slogan used in the co-operative movement. The shield overlays a pair of crossed Union Flags in red white and blue enamel and is surmounted by a bound sprig of laurel representing triumph. The wide border contains a sinuous grapevine with leaves and bunches of grapes, also representing strength and the corners bear an image of the English rose or the Scottish lions. The inscription is in raised upright capital decorative lettering.
