About the memorial: Originally a square oak board with a flat central roundel surrounded by a carved laurel wreath with ribbons and decorative punctuated borders and a projecting shield at the head. The gilded WW1 inscription was incised in upright capital roman lettering on the ribbon at the head and the gilded names were incised in two columns in the roundel in upright capital roman lettering. Later an additional oblong board was very skilfully added at the foot with WW2 names in similar lettering.
