Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend. Litton Roll of Honour. Names of the men form this village, who gave their lives for their King and Country. Second World War – Harry Gregory died of wounds 26 October 1944. Blessed are the Dead. Father in Thy gracious keeping, Leave me now Thy servants sleeping. These post and gates were erected in 2016 during the centenary of the Great War, 1914-18, by the residents of Litton. They stand in memory of all those who lost their lives during the conflict and of Miss Maud Helen Penfold, a local benefactor, who in 1938 gave this field as a memorial to those men from the village who fell in the Great War and as a free and open space for the parish.
