About the memorial: Freestanding wooden desk standing on 2 decorative wide legs with single cross support between them. Desktop is inclined from front to rear and details of desk contents are noted on top in gold lettering. Desk contains 2 near identical books which are covered in brown leather and have decorative chasing along edge of all sides of the front cover. Book title in each case at centre of front cover and in gold lettering. Each book contains parchment pages and after introductions at the front each page contains the name of 3 or 4 servicemen or servicewomen. There is a small photograph of the man/woman above the majority of names and a very short resume of the persons service career below all the names. The books are dived into sections showing casualties, served etc and there are separate books for WW1 and WW2. Some evidence of slight distortion of parchment pages as result of damp.
