About the memorial: The Forster Memorial is dedicated to the fallen of WWI. It is an effigy of Lieutenant Alfred Henry Forster who died in 1919 and was sculpted by his friend Cecil Thomas. The dedication is words from the Laurence Binyon Poem. The monument was unveiled by HRH Edward Prince of Wales in 1925.
