About the memorial: Wooden panels listing all of the men of Cuckfield who served in the Great War - 463 in total of whom 81 died. the centre panel has an inscription (see attached) while the names appear in alphabetical order in 14 panels, 7 either side of the centre panel. The memorial was paid for with excess funds available after the official Peace Day celebrations held in Cuckfield Park on 19th July 1919. [SOURCE: 'A Chronicle of Cuckfield' by Maisie Wright.
