About the memorial: Theatre building gifted by Sir Francis Webster and his brothers William and James to Arbroath Town Council, in memory of Sir Francis' son Lt Joseph F Webster, Killed 30th October 1914 at Zaandvoorde Ridge. A painted portrait of Lt Webster hangs inside the Assembly Hall of the Theatre. The building was originally used for entertainment, with meeting rooms for various societies and as a home for the collections of the Arborath Museum Society. It was altered to provide theatre and arts centre facilities in 1970. Refurbished in 2008. c IWM Archive
