About the memorial: The bench is dedicated to the memory of three young soldiers killed in Iraq by a landmine. The bench has three brass plaques with details of each soldier with the cap badge inscribed. Two came from Tamworth Hewitt and Spicer and one from Nuneaton. (These are difficult to read.)

On the bench - WE WILL REMEMBER THEM IRAQ 16TH JULY 2005 cut into the wood. Each brass plaques - one to each soldier is dedicated by their families. 1) In Loving Memory of 2ND LT. RICHARD SHEARER 1ST BATTALION STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT Your love and humour are sadly missed you are in our hearts each day 7th December 1978 - 16th July 2005

2) In loving memory of our dear son and brother PR LEON SPICER 1ST BATTALION STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT killed on active service in Iraq 25th February 1979 - 16th July 2005 NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN 3) In loving Memory of PR PHILLIP D.R. HEWITT 1ST BATTALION STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT missed every day loved forever - never forgotten 11th August 1983 - 16th July 2005
