About the memorial: This memorial window in the north nave aisle of St George’s Chapel was installed in 1921 to commemorate those former pupils of St George’s School who were killed in the First World War. In 1947, a second list of names was added to commemorate those killed in the Second World War. The stained glass window was designed by the studio of Clayton & Bell, glass painters, and was the last of many works commissioned from them for St George’s Chapel. The upper two tiers of the window depict saints chosen for their connections with soldiering and boyhood: St Pancras, St Gregory the Great, St Martin of Tours, St Alban, King Alfred as a child with his mother, Little St Hugh, St Louis king of France and St Christopher. The bottom tier displays the rolls of honour.
