About the memorial: Memorial stone set on the south wall inside the church To provide and place on the South wall of the Nave beneath the existing War Memorial Tablet of 1914 – 1918 a stone flower container with the following inscription thereon: - 1939 IN HONOURED MEMORY OF 1945 ALEC GILBERT AND ARTHUR HORTON WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY Approved at a meeting of the Parochial Church Council of Doddington held on the 8th August 1946. Seal affixed 10th March 1947. Faculty Book 20 cja 1.37m total width while the shelf (excluding blocks at each end) is 0.15m high, each block at each end (with the 39 - 45 dates on) is 0.23m wide and 0.23m high. The cross is 0.53m high, 0.3m wide at its widest and each arm is 0.08m wide. The very thin supporting 'shelf' beneath the actual monument is 1.63m wide. mp.
