About the memorial: An obelisk carved in the Arts & Crafts style surmounted by a lantern on a two-part square plinth and a single round step. The original lettering is carved on the upper part of the plinth. There is a stone wall on either side and behind the monument; on the curved wall behind the monument there is a stone tablet with later lettering.

Front of plinth: In honoured memory/ of the men of Compton/ who gave their lives/ in the Great War/ 1914-1918. Sides of plinth: WW1 Names. Rear of plinth: Through the ages one clear/ flame of sacrifice has burned/ and by its light men see God. Stone Tablet: Their name liveth/ for evermore/ 1914-1918/ WW1 Names/ 1939-1945 WW2 Names.
