About the memorial: RectangularTriptych on a pedestal within a frame. The central panel, of ivory-coloured marble, shows in relief a private soldier of an unidentifiable Scottish regiment. He is wearing battle dress, a leather jerkin, and a waist belt with ammunition pouches. He is holding a Bren gun upright with the butt on the ground between his feet. On the background above his right soldier are, in gilt, an anchor and an eagle. He is standing firm upon the dragon symbol of war. The inscription is partly above the soldier's head and partly below his feet. The names are inscribed on the two other panels, made of similar material. Each of these panels are headed by a gilt disc bearing a saltire in the natural stone. The names are in a single column on each panel. All lettering is incised and gilded.
