About the memorial: The memorial is a small shield shaped label. This is attached to the wall in the right-hand niche of 5 under the Selby War Memorial window in the north choir aisle of Selby Abbey. It is believed this was originally a grave marker attached to the cross where his body was temporarily buried in France before being buried in the CWGC MERVILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY.
