About the memorial: Memorial to two brothers who died while serving in the Royal Navy in WW1. Lieutenant Edward Selby Wise, Royal Navy, of HMS Severn, who was killed in action while assisting Belgian forces near Nieuport, Belgium on 20 Oct 1914. Lieutenant Stacey Wise, Royal Navy, of HMS Cressy, was lost with his ship in the North Sea 22 Sep 1914.

In loving memory of: Lieut Edward Selby Wise, RN, HMS Severn, killed in action near Nieuport 20th Oct 1914 whilst gallantly leading his men who had been landed under his command from the monitors to assist the Belgian forces, aged 27. Lieut Stacey Wise, RN, HMS Cressy, lost with his ship in the North Sea 22nd September 1914 aged 22.
