to the glory of god and in thankful and beloved remembrance of Henry percy Valentine Hickman Captain Royal Navy Died Nov 9th 1918. Aged 42 after 4 years active service with the grand fleet 1914 - 1918 Fought at the battle of Jutland "Then are they glad, Because they are at rest, and so he bringeth unto heaven where they would be" (Psalm, CV11-30) This cross was erected by his widow Charlotte Louise Hickman, Grand daughter of James Ramsbotham of Crowborough Warren.
