About the memorial: Three separate books of remembrance, the WW2 and the KORBR ones each being in its own glass fronted Oak Cabinet, one for WW2 (in tabular format), one for the Border Regiment deaths and events until merger into the King's Own Royal Border Regiment (KORBR) in 1959 (in narrative format; this continues for events to the current date) and the third for all KORBR deaths in service since 1959 to date (in tabular format continues beyond the 2006 merger into the Duke of Lancaster's regiment, but these entries are in narrative format). The WW1 (WMO/244632), WW2 and KORBR books are in a row on the south side of the chapel, the post WW2 Border Regiment book is underneath the Colonels/VC's memorial (WMO/176525) on the west wall of the Chapel. For the purposes of "tagging" his name one of the KORBR deaths is that of John David Willison of Whitehaven (buried in Whitehaven Cemetery) who was killed in an avalanche while training in Canada (at Camp Wainwright) on 14 July 1987, just 8 days after his 25th birthday. He was one of three men killed in the incident.
