IN MEMORY OF GEORGE KENDALL PRIAULX LIEUTENANT COLONEL 60TH RIFLESCOMPANION OF THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE ORDER SECOND SON OF OSMOND DE LANCEY PRIAULX AND MARY WHITCHURCH HIS WIFE. HE SERVED THROUGHOUT THE SOUTH AFRICAN CAMPAIGN 1899-1901. MENTIONED IN DESPATCHES AND IN THE GREAT WAR. MENTIONED IN DESPATCHES. HE WAS SEVERELY WOUNDED IN THE BATTLE OF AISNE 1914 AND IN THE BATTLE OF LOOS IN 1916. KILLED IN ACTION AT VOYENNES NEAR ST QUENTIN MARCH 24TH 1918 AGED 41. RIGHT IN THE VAN ON THE RED RAMPARTS SLIPPERY SWELL WITH HEART THAT BEAT A CHARGE HE FELL FORWARD AS FITS A MAN BUT THE HIGH SOUL BURRS TO LIGHT MENS FEET WHERE DEATH FOR NOBLE ENDS MAKES DYING SWEET
