ERECTED / BY THE / VILLAGERS OF WOOLVERTON / TO THE SACRED MEMORY / OF THOSE WHO FOUGHT AND / FELL IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914-1918. The right face is inscribed with the details of the soldier from the village who died in the war: WALTER HAINE / 11TH. BN. K.R.R.C. / FRANCE / 1916. The left face carries the inscription THESE MEN OF OURS / UNSELFISH, UNAFRAID / WENT TO THE WORLDWIDE FIGHT / FORGET NOT HOW THEY FOUGHT / AND HOW WE PRAYED / FOR ENGLAND AND FOR RIGHT / HENRY NEWBOLT.
