About the memorial: The meorial is an inscribed stone plaque set within a frame of 2 square columns supporting a timpanum on which is the figure of a Knight holding a sword point down and in his right hand a shield of the cross of England. On either side of the knight are the dates 1914 & 1919. Under tha base supporting the 2 colums is a further shaped piece of stone with a further inscription. It appears that the knight may have been coloured and the dates gilded, but nearly all of this is now lost.
