About the memorial: A vertical, 6ft tall, black, polished granite tablet with etching of an arctic convoy and badges above a dedication in gold lettering. This is mounted on a rough surfaced base stone on a small paved area.

Their great sacrifice was made for our freedom' in English and Russian. Engraved on the back is Winston Churchill's famous quote about the convoys - 'The worst journey in the world' - a vivid description of the hazardous journey and a map charting the route the ships took.
