About the memorial: E window. Five-light. Some damage. WW1 memorial: “To the Glory of God and in affectionate memory of [Robert] Muir Mackenzie Bart. M.C. Durham Light Infantry Killed in Actio[n a]t Benvilier-sur-Bois 12th of April 1918 Aged 26”. St Michael the Archangel in the central light, with patterns and regimental symbols in other lights. Listing description suggests it may be by Hugh Easton, but this is disputed by Dr Neil Moat, who suggests it is by a pupil of Christopher Whall – the decorative grisaille being a classical Whall school pattern. Dedicated 27 Sept 1922. It is clear from the IWM Register entry that the IWM is unclear what church the memorial is in other than that it is in Torquay.
