About the memorial: Within the Combined Services Chapel. In St George's chapel is a memorial book to the Lincolnshire Regiment In St Michael's chapel are memorial books for Bomber Command, Groups 1 and 5. These memorial books contain the names of 25611 men/who flew from Royal Air Force Stations/in or near Lincolnshire during the Second World War/ and never returned. They include 200 men from New Zealand/1140 from Australia/1233 from Canada/ approximately 90 from Southern Rhodesia and 687 members/ of the Polish Air Force. All were members of/ number 1, 5, 6, 7, 91, 92 or 93 OTU Bomber Command One book is displayed in each chapel with additional RAF books kept in a locked wooden book. Vergers rotate the RAF books on display and, if requested at the Information desk outside the chapel, staff will find from their records any Bomber Command personnel and can access the appropriate book.
