Sacred to the memory of Macclesfield’s gallant sons who fell in the Great War for world freedom and justice A.D. 1914 – 1919. This tablet was erected by the Worshipful the Mayor of Macclesfield Councillor Joseph George Frost J.P. on the declaration of peace 1919. (578 names) “They died nobly and by their sacrifice helped to save civilisation”
