About the memorial: This building was erected in 1966 so we assume this roll of honour was moved here at that time. It hangs just outside the council chamber. the roll is handwritten in various colours with the Royal coat of arms in the centre and the Shrewsbury coat of arms and badges of regiments to which the men belonged underneath the names

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

This roll/commemorates/the names of those/members of the Council/staff who, at the call of/King & Country/left all that was dear to them,/endured hardness, faced/danger,& finally passed/out of the sight of men/by the path of duty and/self-sacrifice, giving up/their lives in the cause of/freedom & public right. Let those who come after/see to it that their names/are not forgotten. on either side is a list of names with a note of where the person served within the council and their regiment
